31 Journal Prompts for Developing a Healthier Self-View this August!

Pinnable 4 (14)

Hello August!

Not only is this a pretty cool month because I’m looking forward to celebrating a birthday but I’m excited to present a whole new list of journal prompts! This month is all about reflecting on the health and direction of your self-view. And by self-view, I pretty much mean what it says- how you’re viewing yourself internally and projecting that view into your life.

There’s a quote that I find much truth in which states, “We see things not as they are, we see them as we are.” Perspective is an inside-out ordeal and the cognitive behavioral model shows this. Our response to life around us whether it be in faith or fear, resilience or doubt depends on how we are internally interpreting these things and the inner dialogue we are having around it.

In fact, two people could face the same event and respond differently depending on what meaning they draw internally on what is happening to them. And most of the interpretations we make highly depends on the view we have of ourselves. This is why it is vital to be aware of your core beliefs about yourself, God and others because they are the lens you are seeing through. Self-reflection and introspection is such an important skill that we are practicing monthly through these journal prompts. It challenges you to think about how you are interpreting life.

The good news is 2 Timothy 3:16 reminds us that,

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

The scriptures breathe truth back into our minds and realign us with what is true about God, ourselves and how we engage those around us. We are brought back to the mind of Christ to see things not from our own deficiencies but as God has declared. That being said, here are 31 new journal prompts to peel back the layers of where your self-view has been rooted and may very well need to be adjusted.

(Ps. Don’t hesitate to connect with me on Twitter or Instagram about how these prompts have been working for you so far! I love hearing from you.)
