It’s wild to think that I’ve been blogging for the past 10 years. Over this past decade, I’ve learned and grown and evolved so much since I first launched this blog. Originally, I was serving heavily in youth and young adult ministry and created content around community outreach, youth leadership development, and spiritual growth. Yet it was in this same space that I encountered a number of mental health crises (depression, anxiety, trauma, BPD, etc), which slowly but surely shifted my eye and passion toward becoming a more comprehensive support for mental health in our community. This led me to go back to school where I studied psychology and did research alongside my thesis at UCLA, as well as serving in my city becoming a certified facilitator with NAMI (The National Alliance of Mental Illness). This also catalyst the launch of the Faith & Mental Wellness Podcast where I was able to expand the conversation and explore the nuances of faith and mental health with both mental health professionals and those with lived experiences.
I say all that to say, this blog has evolved over the years in the same way that I have. So here you’ll find content at the intersection of faith, mental health, and lifestyle because these are the things have been most prevalent in what has led to the current season of life that I’m in.
Before I’m a writer, a blogger, a content creator, etc., I’m a human being. I’m a mom to Austin. I’m a newlywed wife to Jason. I also deeply enjoy things like the arts and travel. So, part of me existing in this space online in a healthy and sustainable way means sharing the things that also bring joy and light and optimism to our everyday living. Things that help us appreciate the simple things in life again. Things that foster creativity and discovery into our lives again. I believe it all plays a role in our overall mental wellbeing. So I hope you find that here for yourself, whether it’s a word of encouragement, a resource or a moment for pause and reflection. No matter where you are, you are welcome here. =)
