Since I already know you’re amazing at what you do (which is why I’ve invited you here), I’m not worried about the awesome advice you’re going to give and ideas you have in mind. The guidelines here are simply meant to help ensure readers get the most out of their experience and the topics listed are where we’ve seen the biggest needs for help. If you have a specific area of expertise that you’ve found yourself most passionate about, please don’t hesitate to run with it!
General Guidelines
Supported by scripture- While many of these topics may stand alone, it’s always ideal that there is some element of scripture that can be tied back into the article. For example, you may spend most of the article explaining your topic and then offering biblical encouragement at the end- or you may be able to provide biblical references throughout the article. This is a faith-based mental health platform so we want to do the best we can to keep Christ at the center!
Supported by evidence- If there are ever any studies, research or findings that support your stance and topic, it’s always encouraged to cite those referenced to increase the credibility and trustworthiness of your article. While it’s not a requirement for every article, most of our readers find it beneficial to also understand the science behind their experience. In our case that can be as simple as a link to the study.
Supported by practical advice- It’s always ideal to give some real life tips for the reader at some point in your article. If you’re talking about how to have hope through depression, it would also be beneficial to share some practical tips and next steps they can take after reading your piece. We know that faith without works is dead- so we want to provide ways to become proactive in their mental health journey as well!
I understand that not every article will encompass all of these three things. However, having these three qualities have proven to help people get the most out of their reading experience.
